Public Relations

After years of promoting businesses on a low budget, I have developed skills in obtaining free publicity where possible and keeping advertising costs to a minimum. Through strong writing skills and a network of contacts, I have been able to use Public Relations to positively promote a number of businesses in and around Bradford, Keighley and Bingley.

News and press coverage

For many years, I have written, distributed and had published many articles promoting my employer’s or my clients’ businesses. I use my skills and experience to do the following:

• Identify stories that will trigger media interest and gain exposure for your business;
• Identify opportunities for your business in upcoming features;
• Write well-written and on-brand press releases and editorial;
• Distribute news and press releases to appropriate contacts in the media and press including editors;
• Sourcing appropriate images to illustrate your story and brand;
• Maintain relationships within key players within the media;
• Follow local, regional and national press to pro-actively seek opportunities for you; and
• Follow trade and industry press on your behalf.

Through providing good PR services, I am able to generate good publicity for a business and encourage a positive public perception.

Awards

I have a strong record when it comes to entering awards, as the award entries I have written and submitted have gone on to be chosen as both finalists and winners on a number of occasions. This is evidenced by the winning award entries I have had in the Keighley and Aire Valley Business Awards, Bradford Means Business technology award, industry product and design awards. More recently I was responsible for Pennine Plus winning the Family Business of the Year award in the Bradford Means Business Awards 2021.

My experience also has led to me being involved in other aspects around business awards such as promotion, attending related networking events, presenting at Q and A sessions, inputting on related media coverage and even judging.

Networking

As I focus on businesses local to Bradford, Keighley and Bingley, a key aspect of my job is networking and getting to know the local community. This has been of great benefit to my employers and clients over the years and consequently I already have a wealth of contacts across the area.

The networking that I undertake involves in-person engagement, video calls and online meetings, public speaking and presenting, event attendance, hosting networking events, providing quotes for media and making connections with any body or organisation that may be of benefit to my clients.

By meeting people and making connections in-person or virtually, I have found huge benefit to be gained as it can lead you to a new customer, a new supplier or even a whole new market. However, some business owners or managers may be reluctant to attend events themselves due to lack of time or due to other commitments. Therefore I can act as a company representative when and where necessary.

Social media management

Creating content for social media that presents your brand appropriately and engages with the right audience is critical in this day and age. Good story-telling enables us to control the public perception of your brand, products and services and is an excellent and low cost way to increase customers engagement and, ultimately, sales.
